Sub-Zero Treatment




Following heat treating cycles, Cold and Cryogenic (Deep Freezing) treatments can be done to increase hardness and wear resistance and to further reduce metal fatigue. Cryogenic treatments are usually done immediately following quenching and before tempering process.


Cryogenics is often used for gears, bearings, tools and other items that require a higher wear resistance and durability. However, it is usually only effective in metals in which more than 10% Austenite is retained after quenching, such as high-carbon or high-alloy steels
